Re: Name change when born in another state
You can file in the state where you now reside. If
that state is Virginia, you can pick up a forms packet entitled "NAME CHANGE FOR A MINOR" from the civil division of the circuit court of the city or county in which you live. This packet
will have the forms and instructions as to how to complete and file them with the court.
You can do this on your own without the aid of an attorney.
