Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Change to divorce obligations upon the marriage of a non-minor child

My divorce specified financial obligations for my daughter (not a minor) while she was attending college as an undergraduate. Since the time of the divorce, and while she is still an undergraduate, she has married. How does this affect those original obligations? Thank you.

Unless your judgment exempted your obligations in the event she marries, you are stil on the hook. I am sure that you know that you consented to this provision on your own as the judge had no authority to order that you pay for college unless you voluntarily agreed. However, once it is in the judgment, it is enforceable like anything else in there. William S. Stern
