Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Change in visitation

my ex and I would like to modify our visitation agreement and recalculate support using county support guidelines. Does this have to be done thru attorneys and filed with the courts, or can we draw up a document and submit to the courts ourselves?

Re: Change in visitation

Not to be self-promoting, but there are many legal issues that are better addressed by attorneys. You are not required to have a lawyer but it is advisable. In addition, you will be best served by submitting a consent order to the court once you have reached agreement on the modifications.

Re: Change in visitation

All changes must be entered by a court which can only proceed upon proper motion filed. File a Motion to Amend the prior orders and then submit a consent agreement in writing on Court date or announce the agreement to the Judge. If all is agreed to there is no need for lawyers.

Good luck.
