changing child custody

currently we have joint custody and he has physical custody and we want to drop the case out of court and handle it ourselves. How do we do this?

What you've suggested is likely a bad idea, but a motion to vacate the current custody order could be filed in the court currently having jurisdiction over the custody matter, and, then it would be up to a judge to decide whether it would likely be in the best interests of the subject child(ren) to do so.
