Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Child abuse too close to home
My ex-husband's dad is a ''preacher''. About three to four months ago, he was informed, as well as most everyone else, that a member of the church that he preaches at was married to a child molester. She left her husband and took their two children with her. Since then, she was told by my ex-dad-in-law that she was in the wrong, and that her husband was a child of God. She has since then went back to her husband, but only with one of the children, because her oldest daughter has left home after turning 18 years of age.I have custody of our four children, but my ex husband gets our children every other weekend as ordered by the courts, and he has been known to take them to his dads for the weekend. My question is this, is there anything I can do to keep him from taking the children to his dad's? After all, if his dad condones child molestation it in the church, what kind of people will my children be around?

It's doubtful that your former husband's father condones child molestation, being a purveyor of
the righteous word, and it would not be fair or
equitable to deprive him of the company of his grandchildren in his home merely on the basis of
unproven hearsay allegations, which, really, have
nothing to do with him or his conduct towards these children.

It's rather doubtful that your former husband's father condones the molestation of children, being
a purveyor of the righteous word, and it would be neither fair nor equitable to deprive him of his
right to visit with his grandchildren in his home
based upon the unproven, hearsay allegations of others, which, really, have nothing to do with him or his conduct towards these children.
