Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

child custody

my ex and i have joint legal custody. the child is with each parent equally one week with me one week with father. the week she was with the father he was arrested and is still in custody. The grandmother never informed me i had to find out on my own. the grandmother is stating the she has power of attorney over the father. Can the grandmother file contempt of court on me if i do not give the child to her. and if so what could legally happen to me. I have allready filled a petition to ammend due to the circumstances.
