Child custody
I was given custody of my niece in ny state court and I want to give her back to her mother and remove my name for being her legal guardian what do I do

Contact the mother to see whether she is willing and legally competent to take the child back and if so, then file a petition for modification of the existing order in the court which gave you the custody, removing you as custodian and naming the mother as the
person having legal and physical custody of the subject child.
If the mother is unwilling or legally incompetent to assume custody, then your only alternative(assuming no other appropriate relatives are available)would be to contact your local DSS office to determine whether the child could be placed in foster care.
