Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Child Custody and Support Agreement

Would it be better to go to court for a child custody and support agreement or would it be better to make one out between the two parties involved? My ex wants to make out an agreement and just sign it, but I have no idea what all would need to be included in this agreement! Can you tell me what I need to consider in making an agreement without going through the court system?

Re: Child Custody and Support Agreement

You should arrange to consult with an attorney knowledgeable in family law matters who will be able to advise you on these issues---and to make sure that you don't come out on the short end of the agreement--so to speak.

Generally, it is preferable(and cheaper)if the parties are able to work out an agreement that is fair and equitable to both sides rather than go to court and have a judge decide these matters.
