Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Child Custody/Jurisdiction/Presenting my case on my own

I have gone to court for custody of my two older grandchildren. I lost in that case. I had a terrible lawyer I had to tell him how to handle things. After we lost the case I told him why didn't you tell the judge about the jurisdictiion (as the judge said she had, but by law she didn't). My lawyer replied to me, why didn't you tell me. I have wrote you before about the jurisdiction, and I had one thing wrong, my daughter told me that social services was not involved anymore, they found the case unfounded. Now I have to go back to court for the youngest granddaughter, she has a different dad that is why we had to do it different times. I fired my lawyer. I cannot afford a new one. Can you give a little advice to me when I present my case to the court. I am starting with the jurisdiction first, then I have other things.

Your question cannot be answered as currently written. While proper jurisdiction is needed in a proceeding, it is unclear what you mean by "the jurisdiction".
