Child protective services has entered our lives

We are wondering what are our rights in Virginia with CPS. We have 3 kids, the oldest is a 12y girl. We caught her on the internet on a site she isn't allowed to view. She is being punished with no internet or phone for awhile. Evidently she went to her school counselor and made up a story about a bad situation here at home. My wife and I were visited by CPS. At the end of that visit we were told ''Don't worry, we can see this is a mistake.'' Now we are being told we need to go to counseling or else. What are our rights as a family? Are we required to do as they suggest? Are there attorneys that specialize in this field? Thanks

No, you are not required to acquiesce to what CPS zealots are recommending if you've done nothing wrong with respect to your little fabricator.

Any local attorney in your area with experience representing adults or juveniles in your local Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court should be able to advise you further on this matter, if such should be necessary.
