Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Child Support Arrearage Collection

I have had a case open with the Virginia DCSE since 1989, and child support arrearages in my case now total over $52,000. The NCP has legally changed his name, moved frequently & either changes jobs or is paid ''under the table'' to avoid filing a tax return. The most action the DCSE has taken is to obtain judgements for

thearrearages, applying a useless tax intercept order, and to garnish wages whenever the NCP is located. My children are now adults, and this case is strictly arrearages. The garnishment payments are sporadic and minimal. The NCP currently resides & works in Indiana. The DCSE obtained a judgement against the NCP for $48,000 in 2003. This case has dragged on for nearly 20 years, and has accumulated to a very large amount!! What else can be done to collect this debt?

Re: Child Support Arrearage Collection

You could request that DCSE make a referral for the enforcement of the arrearages to its sister agency in Indiana(if such has not already occurred. You could also hire an Indiana attorney (if your purse would permit) to register and enforce the Virginia judgment in Indiana and then to attach any assets of this perennial dodger which he(the attorney) might be lucky enough to locate.
