Child Support Arrears

My ex-husband is over $10,000 behind in support payments. He has paid some but not all. Until recently I did not realize that even though he is working under the table I could still file a show cause. He has no receipts to speak of and has already told a judge that my daughters, just turned 21 and 18 (18 yr. old still in high school) would testify that he has always paid me the correct amount and on time. This is far from the truth and my daughters are very angry about this! We go back to court in a month with exact figures and his excuse as to why he quit a very lucrative job to work under the table in construction several years ago. Do I need an attorney or just my daughters to back me up in court?

If at all possible, you should have an attorney knowledgeable about child support and the enforcement of such support obligations in the Commonwealth. This person will not only be able to assist you in getting a judgment against your former husband for the correct amount of arrearages but also will be able to advise you on the best way to collect it.
