Child Support

My two childrens father is in jail for the next 20 years. Can i receive support from the state or draw from his social security for them even though i hold a job? Thanks

He was also about 12000.00 behind in support to start with

You should check with your local Department of Social Services agency in regard to the question as to whether you would qualify under your current circumstances for any type of state assistance.

As to whether your children could qualify for a benefit under their incarcerated father's social

security account, I'm quite certain that the answer is no they cannot but you might want to

double check that particular issue with the office of social security nearest to where you currently reside.(You could probably also find an answer to this question on the social security main website.)
