Child support and custody hearing

I would like to request for continuance as the petitioner for a court hearing date that is 3 days away. How do I go about this and how will this look on my part?

Contact the clerk's office of the court(civil division)and ask one of the clerk's to tell you what's required to request the continuance on such short notice for someone like yourself who is presumably representing him or herself pro se(without a lawyer).

You may just have to go to the scheduled hearing

and make the request for the continuance at that time.
