Re: Child support and custody
You must first establish paternity in order to establish a court order for child support, and as part of that process a form is often sent to the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Richmond requesting that this agency alter the birth certificate to include the name of the person who has been legally established to be the father of the child named on the birth certificate.
