Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Child Support

I was divorced 14 years ago and ordered to pay child support. The agreed upon support was in the form of US Savings Bonds. My ex-wife is now saying that she has lost some of them and wants me to reissue or will take me to court to have my pay docked for them. I have documentation from my payroll department and the US Treasury showing the money was taken out and bonds were issued to her. Can I be held responsible for non payment and have to pay again?

Re: Child Support

Only if your ex wife can prove to the court by a preponderance of the evidence that you haven't paid the support at issue.

Re: Child Support

Her acknowledgement that she received the bonds and simply lost them coupled with your ability to document that you purchased (and delivered) them make her claim VERY difficult.
