Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Does Child Support Have To Be Monetary?
I had a one night affair with a girl who became pregnant but did not know for sure that I was the father until a year ago.. Child 4 years old, determined by blood test not to be the husband's child, but husband named as father on birth certificate and claims child as dependant on federal tax return and child carries husband's name.
Husband seems to feel that I owe him for the four years he has raised my daughter.. I'd rather not give monetary child support.. I have been buying clothes, toys, etc. for my daughter.. Her mother has taken money from my mom under and given it to her husband as partial payments..
Will the court order me to pay monetary support?

Re: Does Child Support Have To Be Monetary?
Yes, once the court has officially adjudicated you as the father of this child, that same court will order you to pay child support denominated in bright green dollars in accordance with the Virginia Child Support Guidelines. Clothes, toys or other so-called in kind payments will not be an adequate substitute for these bright green dollars which you will be required to pay----and, which you, apparently, are quite loath to part with for this particular purpose.
