Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Child Support, NCP live in VA and Child in Puerto Rico

I live in Virgina and I pay child support for my daughter that lives in Puerto Rico. The paymens were determined by Puerto Rico agency. The mother asked Puerto Rico Child Support Agency for a revision to the Child Support Payments. There is a big difference in the cost of living between Puerto Rico and Virginia and I'm afraid that the Puerto Rico Agency will not take into consideration the cost of living when establishing the new child support payment. Is there a way to use Virginia Child Support Tables instead of the Puerto Rico ones? Any advice on how to bring the cost of living issue. VA COL is approx. 30% more than PR.

You could check with your local district office of the Division of Child Support Enforcement(DCSE), but I believe that the Puerto Rican agency is entitled to use the child support guidelines currently in effect for that jurisdiction in reassessing any particular child support obligation for which they have responsibility, and that they are not required to take into consideration the guidelines in the jurisdiction where the obligor(payer)resides.
