Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Child Support

I currently pay child support for a child that I signed away my legal rights to. Am I legally obligated to continue to pay child support for that child?

Re: Child Support

You are simply misinformed if you think that you can simply "sign away" your parental rights and responsibilites by affixing your signature to a piece of paper which embodies language for such a claim and which then, perhaps, is notarized.

Only a court of proper jurisdiction over such a matter would have the power to terminate your parental rights

and to extinguish your legal obligation to pay child support. And, therefore, you must "continue to pay child support for that child" until that actually occurs.
