Re: Child Support and Separation in VA
There is no way to answer your question without having information regarding the income as well as the expenses of both parents. Virginia has adopted the income shares approach in the determination of child support, and the
respective incomes as well as the expenses of both parents are taken into consideration in this process.
Temporary(aka pendente lite) support and maintenance are available for both the child as well as the spouse seeking alimony, pending entry
of the final decree of divorce.
Costs, of course, would vary, depending, in large
measure on whether or not the defendant party contests the actions initiated by the plaintiff.
Re: Child Support and Separation in VA
Child support is set by reference to the gross incomes of the parties, the amount of child care costs allowing the custodial parent to work, and the cost of health insurance for the child. Within very narrow limits, it is easy to predict what child support would be payable. If you want to give me a call at (703) 893-6284 I will, without charge, plug in the information you have and tell you what the likely amount of child support will be.
