Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

child support

In Va, is child support retroactive to the date of birth if you have a child that you never knew existed or is it from the date paternity is established? Last, if I pay child support for one child and I get another woman preg, how would child support be calculated for the 2nd kid. Would the first order be altered or stay the same??

Re: child support

Child support may be made retroactive to the date the petition for paternity and support was filed.

In the unhappy circumstance that you should impregnate a second woman, upon this child's birth and the establishment of you as it's father, your second support obligation would be calculated according to the Virginia Child Support Guidelines

which would factor into this calculation whatever child support you may have been ordered to pay for the first child. (See Va. Code Sec. 20-108.2.)
