Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

child support

A year and a half ago my husband and I got a divorce he lived in va at the time, he now works in NYC making close to 6 digits, his child support payments were based on the va salary. I have since remarried. What do I need to do to get the child support calculated for the job that he now has? He also threatens that he will leave his job if he gets taken into court again.

Re: child support

You could contact your local DCSE (Division of Child Support Enforcement)

district office and schedule an appoint to come in and discuss the possibilty of initiating an action under the Uniform Family Support Act or Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement of Support Act(URESA) in order to get a new order entered in the jurisdiction where your former husband now resides and which would apparently be more commensurate with the presumed increase in his ability to pay child support.
