Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
child visitation
I moved from my parents house with my 3 year old son at 18 years of age, my parents were devastated until I allowed them to take Jordan home for good. (They made me feel so guilty for taking my child with me) I have visited every holiday and all summer long every year, because my mom refuses to let him visit me at my home. Gradually she has stopped allowing me to see him at all or make any decisions. She has recently refused my calls and will not allow me to speak with him. He is grounded from his parents! This is all because he had tests to take at school on the days of his paternal grandfathers wake and funeral, I didn't take him home until after these events were over. She was furious she said she wanted him home on Sunday not Wednesday, and he was not suppose to attend these important dates. She told him that his Pappy was dead and did he really think his Pappy cared rather or not he was there! There is no custody arrangements or visitation arrangements. I have always just obeyed everthing she asked in order to keep her happy. I have never signed any type ofcustody paper norhave we been to court. Do I have the right to bring him to my home for a visit without her permission? I let themhave him, and now they wont let me see him

Re: child visitation
Yes, as the natural mother of Jordan, you not only have a right to bring your child to your home for a visit, but to keep him there permanently, and without allowing for any further visits to his grandmother's home(unless ordered by the court).
