Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Children
My husband went outside of the marriage and got another woman pregnant. We don't know if we will be together or not and I would like to know whether or not by law I will have to let my children know this child. My children are one, two and six months old and I don't wish them to know anything about this child until they are old enough for me to explain it to them, if I ever decide to let them know. I was wondering if that is legal. I care to have nothing to do with this woman or her child.

Re: Children
You are not required by law to do anything regarding this matter whether it's informing or notinforming your children of the situation.
However, if your husband is sued for paternity and child support in behalf of the out of wedlock
child, he will have to respond to the suit in some manner during the course of which or, perhaps, at some later time your children may well learn of the matter.
(I, also, suspect that your children at some later time in their lives will not only want to know about their half-sibling, but will want to establish a relationship with either him or her.)
