collection agency call on me over 3 yr old water bill

My wife and I got divorced approx. 4 years ago and my name was removed from all utilitys bill and such. The court has made me responsable for real estate taxes and $350 alimony each month. My ex-wife was responsable for maintainning the property. now a collection agency is trying to tell me i have to pay a 3 year old water bill of $158. I havn't lived in the house for approx. 5 years now and i need to know what my options are.

Send them a letter explaining the circumstances and denying all responsibility for the alleged debt and further put them on notice that if any adverse information appears on your credit report as a result of their invalid claim, you will hold the collection agency responsible for all damages resulting therefrom.
