Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

complicated

My boyfriend of a year has three children. the mother has custody, and the father has visitation. He pays child support on time and in the correct amount. first, is it ok for her to decide that the kids can not go with their father on his weekends because she does not want them around me? (simply because she is mad). She and I have been to court for her harrassment of me, the area police know her by name, and ive had protective orders against her. Also my boyfriend and I are engaged to be married, and we've purchased a home. He does not want to take the children from her but he is interested in filing for joint custody, what are the chances?

Re: complicated

Unless there's has been a material change in the circumstances of either the children and/or their custodial parent since the last custody order was entered which may affect the best interests of these children, your boyfriend's chances of winning joint custody are probably not very good(in my estimate).

And, no, it is not ok for the mother to prevent these children from having their scheduled visitation with their father for the reason which you've suggested.
