Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

More Conflict?

Recently I had to fire my attorney due to a conflict of interest involving him taking my husband on as a client in a custody case against me. For the initial hearing he had an associate of his stand in for him because he was out of town, this was when I learned that he was the one representing my ex. Since the associate was given information about me from my attorney would she also be in a conflict of interest? She is now representing my ex in the case since the other attorney had to drop my ex as well.

Re: More Conflict?

Yes, not only would the associate be considered tainted with an unacceptable conflcit of interest, but also any other attorney members of the firm, if there be any such counsel, hovering in the wings, so to speak, and ready and willing to take a handoff of this case from this associate.
