Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I cosigned for a car loan with my, now separated, spouse BEFORE we got married. Does that still count as marital debt in the state of VA? She has made no payments on it, and I can prove it.

No, it cannot be considered marital debt since it was apparently

incurred before the marriage, but you would nevertheless still have

the right to recover from her in a lawsuit whatever sums you/ve paid

in her behalf in order to keep this vehicle loan from going into

default.
