Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I know the court usually chooses the guardian et litem for children. Am I able as one of the parents allowed to get one for my children? I am willing to pay for their services so my children are allowed to tell their opinions to someone besides the parents. They are 11 and 13. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

I have had my clients ask for gal and the court said fine. Usually both parties have to agree on a specific guardian or judge will. Depends on jurisdiction.
