Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Hi!
I am currently going through the court process now with my father, he is charged with assault on me. My mother has since become very hostile towards me for calling the police, and talking to social services, which to me, was necessary. They have been having martial issues for a while now, and she is taking her anger out on me. I have been considering emancipation, considering I work up to thirty hours a week & still attending high school. I would have a residence, if emancipation was granted. And, I plan to save money for my own apartment, and would have a mode of transportation to work and school. I have a job plan for the furture after I recieve my cosmetology license. However, I am wondering if I do have grounds for emancipation.

In order to become emancipated, you must be at least 16 years old and meet one of the following criteria:
i) married; or (ii) on active duty with any of the armed forces of the United States of America; or (iii) willingly living separate and apart from your parents or guardian, with the consent or acquiescence of the parents or guardian, and capable of supporting yourself and competently managing your own financial affairs.
