did not go to court

my son went to vistit his father after 10 years of no visits. at age 14 my son decided he wanted to live with his father. i was given a paper saying joint custody and other things. did not go to court just signed this paper because my son cryed for it to be signed. was from an attorney for the father. my q: is this legally biending and can i change my mind. he has been with his father for almost a year. i have asked for my son to come home for a vistit, but just get excuses why he can't.what can i do to get him back or at least a visit?

Unless the paper which you signed was approved

by the court and entered as a binding order, it is without force and legal effect upon you. And

you may certainly initiate your own suit in the appropriate court either for full custody of your son or only for visitation, if that is your desire.
