What do I need to take to the courthouse to file for sole custody of my 5 month old daughter? Her father lives in OR and we live in VA.

Just yourself should be enough (at the civil division of the clerk's office of the J&DR;court in the locality where you currently reside).

However, you may want to consider that if the father is not now actively seeking custody, you are already recognized in the law as the natural custodian of your child and there may be no need for you to initiate custody court action at this time.
