Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
My cousin and her husband separated in NC and she took the kids with her to he mother's, where he could visit whenever he wanted. He took the kids out for the "day" and never brought them back. A week later he called from VA and said that he now has temporary custody of the kids until they have a court hearing. He won't let his wifer or any of his wife's family see the kids. My cousin hasn't seen any legal documents that what he says is true, and she doesn't know what course of action she should take to be able to see her kids. Could he possibly be bluffing that he has sole custody of the kids until the hearing, with the right to deny her visitation? Should she hire a lawyer? What should she expect at a hearing? On what grounds could custody possibly be denied to the mother of children?

Yes, your cousin and the mother of these children should hire a Virginia lawyer who is experienced in the domestic relations law matters of the Commonwealth. This lawyer should be
able to answer the rest of your questions as well as any further ones that your cousin may have.
