credit card debt

if a spouse dies what is the responsibility of the living spouse concerning credit card debt if the credit card was in the dead spons' name only

If the surviving spouse personally made no charges on the card and none were incurred for what the law calls the "necessaries of life", e.g., food, shelter, medical care, etc., then very likely only the deceased spouse's estate rather than the surviving spouse would have legal responsibilty for these debts.
