Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Hi. I am the custodial parent of a child. We live in AZ. The NCP lives in VA. When we called Fairfax County they said that if I recorded my orders in VA that would have the effect of changing venue for the entire domestic relations case. Can someone please clarify this for me?

Yes, that's correct and would make no sense from your perspective as custodial parent unless you're changing your state of residence from Arizona to Virginia.

However, if you need enforcement of your Arizona support order, you should make application for these services through the Arizona state agency for child support enforcement which would pursue the matter with the assistance of its sister agency in Virginia known as the Division of Child Support Enforcement(DCSE).
