Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Custody/Visitation

I'm a mother of a three year old boy. I have supervised visitation, and the father has sole legal and physical custody. Recently he took our son overseas to Romania, and he left our son with his paternal grandparents. He plans to leave him there until June 2007. My son's maternal great aunt supports him, and he resides with her Monday-Friday, and resides with his father Saturday-Sunday. Maternal great aunt wants to get joint custody with father. I the mother would like to get more visitation rights.

Re: Custody/Visitation

It would appear that you may need to bring this matter back before the court for a review and to request a modification of the existing schedule of visitation to allow you more(and, perhaps, longer) visits with your son.

As to the possibility(desirability?) of the maternal great aunt's proposed involvement in your son's custody case, I could not offer an opinion on this issue without knowing much more about it.
