Divorce completed by �Kyogirikon� in Japan, - What do I need to do in Virginia?

I am Japanese who married a American (male) about 4 years ago in Virginia beach, Virginia. We separated after married (I live in Japan and he lives in VA).

we divorced by �kyogirikon� in Japan (http://japan.usembassy.gov/e/acs/tacs-7117.html )

Question: What needs to be done to finalize the divorce in Virginia or any other state to legally satisfy the US that we are divorced?

I know we are not married in Japan, however in US are we still in married??

Kyogirikon of Japan is legal In Virginia

I want to get marry with BF(American) soon. I don�t want to find out later that my first marriage is still in effect when I get marry again.

If your Japanese divorce comported with all the required laws

of Japan for the legal dissolution of a marriage, then it should

also be recognized as valid by U.S. jurisdictions.

However, having never heard of what you call "Kyogirikon" nor having

any idea as to what it may involve, I, of course, can offer

no opinion as to whether it may meet the above requirement.
