Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Divorce

This is a follow up question. I am Active Duty Military stationed in Northern Virginia. My wife and child reside in California and have for years. I have been in Virginia for a year and a half. Where can I file for divorce? What is recommeded?

Depends on your status here in VA. Virginia requires that you be a resident and domiciliary. You need to physically be here and intend to stay here. If you're here on temporary work duty and EVERYTHING else relating to your marriage is in California (e.g. wife, kids, property, etc), I suspect CA would be the prefered jurisdiction.
