Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Divorce
I have a friend whose husband is abusive and has had several affairs which she is now aware of. He verbally, mentally and physically abuses her and their son. She is scared and afraid to do anything. He has threatened her with desertion, adultery and being an unfit mother. That is why she is scared. She has pictures of holes he has put in the walls and a broken window which he threw a cell phone at. I am her friend and I am a male, he has accused her of being with me and others she works with. She has proof he has committed adultery. Several witnesses of his violent out burst around their neighborhood.
If she did leave him could she stay with whoever she wanted and be protected by them and the law? What else does she need to do? Please help on this before he does something worse to her.

Re: Divorce
Your friend would appear well advised to arrange for a consultaion with an
attorney who practices in the area of domestic relations law, and who should be able to advise her as to a prudent course of action appropriate to her particular situation.
