Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I am about to go through a divorce. We own a house, but its in my name only, is it possible for me to turn the house over to her? I have no interest in keeping it, nor am I able to afford it by myself.

Yes, you could convey whatever interest you may have in this property to

your spouse by executing what's known as a quitclaim deed and then having

it properly recorded in the land records section of your local circuit court.

You can execute a deed of the house to her; however, unless she refinances the house, you will still be obligated on the mortgage note, and if she should default in the payments the lender could look to you for payment.
