Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Divorce never legal

Per requested by the Social Sercurity Addministration i needed a copy of my divorce that i was told by my husbands divorce attorny as well as my ex-husband was final in 2004.As there was no such records at the courthouse,i inquired at the attorneys office, now i am being told that i need to sign papers and that the divorce was never final and have been fully by law married all this time. What are my rights?Does this happen often?

No, I would not think that what you've described happens very often, but you would be well advised to arrange a consultation with an attorney who should be able to advise you not only as to your particular rights but also on an appropriate course of action to resolve this unwholesome situation.
