Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Divorce Procedures

I am trying to find out the procedures and approximate price range for a contested divorce in Virginia. The couple have been separated (not legally) for a year now. There are two children involved. There is no property between the two of them.

Re: Divorce Procedures

Your answer depends, largely, on what's likely to

be contested. If there's no property, to speak of, that leaves custody of the children and their

support and maintenance, and, possibly, temporary

support for a spouse.

Also, if proper grounds for the divorce have not been established, that would provide a basis for contest.

A fee range averaging somewhere between $1000 to

$2000 is probably reasonable, depending on how intensely and long these various issues were contested.
