Divorce settlement

My wife filed for divorce(nov.3,2007). I have not seen any papers. It suppose to be a mutual divorce. She states the divorce is final six (6) months from that date. ( may 3, 2007 .) when do i have to start giving her / half of asset's and home ? Thank's - e-mail = ( [email protected])

I gather the six month period referred to is the required separation period (1 year if children involved). However, the complaint is not typically filed prior to such time but after the separation period. Also, with respect to the property settlement, no such payment is required until there is an order of the court for the same. I suggest that you consult an attorney for guidance throughout the process.

As a general rule, transfers of properties in divorce matters commence

once the property settlement agreement(PSA)has been finalized and properly endorsed by both parties and witnessed by a notary public, unless another date/arrangement has been agreed to by the parties which is reflected in the PSA.
