Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Divorce

Hello, I am a soldier currently stationed in Iraq, and I need a divorce from someone I only married out of a favor to a freind. The person I married is from Bolivia and wants to become a citizen, but I can't go through with this. I came home from Texas (training) to get married on Dec 26th, 2007 in Fairfax, VA and in May of this year, I came home for 2 weeks Rest and Relaxation leave. While in the STATES, I filled out all the immigration paperwork, but not sure if they were ever filed by my wife. Can you please help me? I want this done ASAP. Can you please respond back to me if this can be done and how much it will cost? Thank you, Calvin

Re: Divorce

Interesting, I just did a final divorce hearing for another deployed soldier in Iraq this morning by telephone.

Please don't post this information again as it IMPLIES that you were committing fraud on the government which is a crime and I'm sure that is not what you intended to do.

In order to determine where you can file for divorce I need to know is VA your stated residence or where you were stationed before being deployed or your home port?
