son stationed in Iraq, married june, 2006, left for Iraq Aug. 2006. he wants to divorce, will he have any financial obligation to wife since marraige was of short duration? no children of the marriage

Alimony or spousal suppport would not be likely under the facts which you've outlined for this particular dissolving marriage.

Alimony or spousal support may be awarded in a divorce action, though it is never mandatory (like child support). Various factors go into the appropriateness of alimony, e.g. the length of the marriage. In light of your particular case, alimony could be--but likely won't be--awarded.
