divorce in another state
my husband wants to file for divorce in
his home of record,which is different
than the state we were married....is
this possible or practical?

Yes, no reason why not. (If spouses had to return to the state in which they were married in order to obtain a divorce, that would not be very practical
at all for reasons that should be obvious.)
