Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Can someone divorce someone in the state of VA without the other party signing anything. Say the husband is in jail can the wife divorce him with out him knowing?

No, the defendant spouse must be given some kind of notice regarding

the divorce which meets the requirements of the applicable law (even if it's

only a notice published in a local newspaper).

And, furthermore, if such spouse were incarcerated, the court handling the divorce would at some point likely have to appoint a special lawyer to represent him known as a committee.
