Re: divorce validity dominican republic in Virginia

If the party who obtained the Dominican divorce had not established what's referred to as a good faith domicile in that country(the Dominican Republic) prior to obtaining the divorce, it's unlikely that it would be recognized as valid in the Commonwealth.

In other words a so-called "quickie divorce" where one of the parties flies down to Santo Domingo in one day and flies out the next for the sole purpose of obtaining a divorce will not likely be given full faith and credit in the Commonwealth nor the process which produced the divorce in the Dominican Republic recognized as judicially valid such that it could be upheld in Virginia.
