Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Divorce
My wife has always been the bread
winner in our marriage for 14 yrs.,
we have an 18 mo. old child. As
husband and father, will I be entitled
to alimony that will allow me to live
at the same comfort level and to
provide for the child during his visits?
I will give up custody.

Re: Divorce
In your situation you can ask for alimony. You will be expected to make a good faith effort to become employed, and if that effort has not been made, the court may impute an income to you based on your abilities and employability. Once the alimony question is decided, a decision will have to be made about child support, with your alimony income and other income, actual or imputed, figuring into the equasion.
