Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I was divorced in 1998. The papers say that I can receive part of my ex's retirement and I have not done so as of yet. He is 45 years old now but worked for the Federal Government from 1982-2009 and is now on a leave of absence. We were married from February 1988 until the final decree July 10, 1998. How should I go about getting the amount owed to me or is it too late?

You need to read over other documents regarding the retirement fund also. Do you have information and documents relating to his plan?
